So, you’ve been asked to run your businesses completely differently. Juggle your projects, tasks, collaborate, delegate and, oh, by the way, don’t lose sight of your vision!
The question you need to ask yourself now is, “how adaptable am I, really?”
Only time will tell the final score, but in the meanwhile, reflect on these questions to ask yourself:
- Have I been flexible in the past dealing with situations which changed abruptly?
- How have I reacted to significant setbacks?
- Do others know me as a creative thinker?
- Am I capable of bold, calculated risks?
- How do I view obstacles-as opportunities or roadblocks?
It may take some time to learn to juggle the new way of doing business, so let me share an acrostic from John Maxwell’s chapter on “The Law of Navigation” in his book, The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.
Most likely, you’ve juggled your way through part of the planning stage. Take note of the “Ahead” stage-there are some valuable reminders to keep spirits up and keep yourself and your team motivated.
Predetermine a course of action Allow time for acceptance
Lay out your goals Head into action
Adjust your priorities Expect problems
Notify key personnel Always point to the successes

Don’t lose sight of the goals you are committed to for this business year. Some may need juggling and others creatively adapting. Schedule that meeting with your mentor or coach to be sure you are still on target as new changes are announced daily. Setbacks? Opportunities? You decide.
